A Priority for America
Education must be a priority not only for America, but for all of humanity. A well-funded public education system is a necessity. Good public education is not a cost to society, it is a perpetual economic stimulus, in addition to being the noblest of all human endeavors.
Independent school districts are often the largest employer in a community. This employment provides customers for the businesses in the community. Just like Social Security, it keeps the money in circulation constantly.
And as it does this, it provides richness to the lives of all. By fully funding public education we, as a national community, are purchasing a better world for us all. The education is not for the student alone; it is for everyone. We all benefit.
Education: A Deeper Dive
A great public education system must be available from birth through college and beyond. A great public education system must include a publicly funded college education. It will more than pay for itself. Studies show that approximately 80% of all brain development occurs by age 3, and so making HeadStart educational opportunities available for the very young is important for us all as a national community.
A great public education should include re-training for people whose careers and jobs become obsolete, or near obsolete. A great public education system results in a wonderful, meaningful way to employ a sector of the population while improving the lives of all. It is a major factor in an economy for all.
